Connect research to age-appropriate activities and strategies that weave learning into the fabric of play while providing a roadmap for building the broad foundation that leads to developing successful readers. Overview activities include rationale, strategies and suggestions for teaching phonological and phonemic awareness, alphabet, prewriting and writing, shapes, colors, numbers, rapid serial naming, picture and listening comprehension, and beginning phonics.

"Groves Academy is pleased to welcome Brock Eide, author of the book The Dyslexia Advantage, to our Annual Symposium on Friday, February 15th. Brock will describe the brain science research that reveals that people with dyslexia have a unique brain structure and organization, which often leads to excellence is such areas as mechanical reasoning (required for architects and surgeons), interconnected reasoning (artists and inventors), narrative reasoning (novelists and lawyers) and/or dynamic reasoning (scientists and entrepreneurs).
The cost per person is $75, and includes breakfast and lunch."
